The Dallas Stars will host the Ottawa Senators, at the American Airlines Arena, for some hard hitting NHL action.
The Dallas Stars (15-10-4) have seven wins in their last ten games. Unfortunately in their last game they lost, 2-3, at home to the San Jose Sharks. The Stars are a team with a great power play and penalty kill. They average 2.8 GAG and their power play is ranked 5th in the league. They need to get more shots on net if they want to up their offense. Their defense is good for 2.5 GAA and their defensemen are great at blocking shots from getting through. G Marty Turco is 9-6-3, 2.47 GAA , .908 SVPCT along with 1 SHO.
The Ottawa Senators (17-7-3) got a big win yesterday beating the Florida Panthers, 5-4. This was their first win in seven games and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The Sens mighty offense has the 2nd best PPG averaging 3.2 GAG and their the 3rd best at putting the puck on net. Even though they have an average power play the Sens can always score at any time, from any player. Both their goalies have hit a little bit of a slump lately. G Martin Gerber is 13-4-1 for a 2.50 GAA and .919 SVPCT. He started out the season by going 10-1 but has since dropped four in a row. Last year’s superstar goalie Ray Emery is struggling bad. Before yesterday’s win he had dropped six in a row. He’s currently 3-3-2 for a 2.89 GAA.
Bottom Line: It’s going to be a fast paced game with both goalies having to stand on their heads. Depending on which Gerber shows up, I like the Senators over the Stars.
