Rams at Cowboys

September 28, 2007

ST. LOUIS RAMS (0-3 SU, 0-3 ATS) at DALLAS COWBOYS (3-0 SU, 3-0 ATS)

1 pm ET, Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007

Line: Dallas -13½

Pick: Dallas

Free pick courtesy of Betting the NFL

This big spread could chase some bettors away from the Cowboys on Sunday, but there’s no reason to think Dallas won’t win this one by a minimum of two TDS.

Dallas offense near top of NFL

Dallas is at the top of most of the NFL’s offensive categories – first overall in points scored per game (38.7) and second-best in yards per game (420). St. Louis is ranked 25th in offense (10.7 points and 291 yards per game).  Last week, the Rams were ripped 24-3 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – who are 22nd in offense. Conversely, Tony Romo and the Cowboys went into Soldier Field, spent half the game warming up, and then proceeded to ventilate the Chicago Bears’ top-ranked defense on the way to a 34-10 drubbing.

St. Louis has lots of key injuries

As if the Rams don’t have enough problems with a 3-0 start, they now have several key players either out with injury, or hampered by injury, including their two biggest offensive weapons. After being held to just 118 yards on the ground through St. Louis‘ first two games,  explosive RB Steven Jackson ran for 115 yards on 30 attempts against Tampa Bay last week. Jackson will miss at least a week after an MRI revealed a partial tear of his groin suffered in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss. Rookie running back Brian Leonard will start in Jackson‘s place.

Quarterback Marc Bulger is playing with two broken ribs and a bum knee. HC Scott Linehan said on Monday that Bulger’s play against Dallas will be “limited.” The coach added that if he thought Bulger wasn’t healthy enough to play, he would have went with backup quarterback Gus Frerotte.

The Rams are already missing Pro Bowl left tackle Orlando Pace, who’s out for the season due to a torn labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder. Starting right guard Richie Incognito suffered a high ankle sprain in the preseason and has been unable to play in the regular season as of yet. Then came last Sunday’s game, a contest that saw left guard Mark Setterstrom get carted off the field with a left knee sprain that in fact turned out to be a torn ACL. “He’ll be out for the year,” Linehan said of Setterstrom.

In recent meetings the United States have won the Presidents Cup 5 times since 1994. In 2003 and 2005 both teams tied and then captains decided it would be better off just leaving it at a tie. The International team have never won the Presidents Cup.

It’s looking right on par with the United States to win another Presidents Cup. To get in on the action check out

San Diego Padres at Milwaukee Brewers

September 27, 2007

There are some intriguing MLB betting opportunities as the Wild Card races go down to the wire and some very good teams are fighting for their playoff lives.

The Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres are both good enough to advance to the playoffs, but a season-ending four-game series at Miller Park beginning Thursday night is likely to eliminate one of them. Milwaukee (81-77) is two games behind the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs, and San Diego (87-71) holds a slim one-game lead over Philadelphia and Colorado in the wild card race. The Padres also trail first-place Arizona by one game in the NL West.

The Brewers lost a chance to close the gap on Chicago on Wednesday, losing 7-3 to St. Louis while the Cubs lost 7-4 at Florida. The Padres, though, maintained their wild card advantage with an 11-3 win at San Francisco as the Phillies beat Atlanta 5-2 and Colorado won 2-0 at Los Angeles. The victory also helped San Diego gain ground on the Diamondbacks, who lost 5-1 at Pittsburgh.

With the teams evenly matched, it’s tempting to give Milwaukee an edge with home field advantage. And the Brewers have history on their side. Milwaukee is 4-1 SU in its past five games at home against San Diego, and is 4-1 SU in its past five at home overall.

Steelers (3-0) vs Cardinals (1-2)

September 26, 2007

By Scott Burgess
Pick Record: 4-1
The Arizona Cardinals will host the Pittsburgh Steelers at M&T Stadium on September 30, 2007.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to go 4-0 for a commanding first place lead in the AFC North. QB Ben Roethlisberger (46-77, 563yds, 6td) is playing just like he was when they were Super Bowl Champs. Ben is 11-1 against the NFC with 16 touchdowns. WR S.Holmes (8rec, 157yds) and H.Miller (10rec, 151yds) seems to be the favorites that Ben likes to throw to. RB W.Parker (74car, 368yds) and N.Davinport (19car, 136yds) are working the ground-n-pound game nicely. In week 1 the Steelers demolished The Cleveland Browns 34-7. In week 2 Pitt spanked the Buffalo Bills 26-3 and in week 3 they swallowed San Fran 37-16, in fact RB Parker was the lead rusher in the NFL with 133yds .

The Arizona Cardinals are having problems deciding who’s going to be their QB. Matt Leinart (46-85, 454yds, 2td) stunk it up against Baltimore and was replaced by Kurt Warner, who threw for 258yds and had 2tds. The coach of the Cardinals has insisted that Leinart’s their man and their sticking with him. IDIOTS! Although they will use Warner in brief stretches they say. The sure thing for the Cards is their running game. RB E.James (60car, 277yds,2td) is doing great but against the Steelers wall of a defense there’s no way. WR A.Boldin (22rec, 286yds, 3td) and L.Fitzgerald (15rec, 192yds) just got these stats pushed up by Warner so don’t be fooled.

The Steelers are going to roll right through Arizona. Go to to get in on the action.

Houston Texans (2-1) vs Atlanta Falcons (0-3)

September 25, 2007

By Scott Burgess
Game Day: Sept 30, 2007
Pick Record: 4-1
The Atlanta Falcons will host the Houston Texans at the Georgia Dome on September 30, 2007

The Atlanta Falcons aren’t doing well as predicted. Their QB Joey Harrington improved but couldn’t muster up a win. He threw for 361 yds along with 2 TD passes. CB DeAngelo Hall caused 67 yds in penalties and was visually pissed at his team.

The Houston Texans are a much improved team so far. Their QB Matt Schaub has a 75% pass rate for 688 yds and 4TDs. RB Ahman Green has fit into his new roll well and is averaging 4.3 yds a carry. WR Andre Johnson has 14 REC for 262 yds. They have a solid defense that will stand up to Atlanta’s offense no problem.

The Houston Texans have too much offense for the Atlanta Falcons defense. The Falcons QB situation is going to look foolish against the Texans defense. Look for the Texans to win and to join in on some of the action check

Chicago Bears (1-2) vs Detroit Lions(2-1)

September 25, 2007

By Scott Burgess
Pick Record: 4-1
Game Day: Sept 30, 2007
The Chicago Bears will head to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions.

The Bears make their way into Detroit after they were pounded by the Dallas Cowboys 34-10. They faired well into the 2nd half, then after that it was all Dallas. On the day Rex Grossman was only 15 for 32, 195 yds with 3 interceptions. Their rushing game wasn’t getting done against a new and improved Dallas defense. C.Benson was 6 for 73 yds with 1 TD and A.Peterson was 6 for 17 yds. Shit Grossman (1 for 12yds)could’ve rushed for more yards than Peterson. The Bears have to work on protecting their QB, Grossman was sacked 3 times. Their D has also been dealt a blow with injuries to CB Nathan Vasher, DE Alex Brown, DT Tommie Harris. OUCH!

The Detroit Lions are going to make up for their recent loss to the Philadelphia Eagles 56-21. Even after this loss there’s still a bright side for the Lions. QB J.Kitna was 29 for46, 446 yds with 2 TD’s and 1 int. Receiver R.Williams was 9 for 204 yds and 1 TD. The Lions looked great in their first two games of the season. They beat the Oakland Raiders, 36-21, then the Minnesota Lions, 20-17. The Lions QB likres to go for the long ball and connect with R.Williams.

They will be a force to reckon with against the Bears. Especially since they’re playing at home. To get in on the action go to

Bet on Survivor: China

September 25, 2007

Survivor: China is underway and gambling sites are offering a chance to make some money off the 15th installment of the popular CBS reality TV show.

Sixteen Americans from various walks of life kicked off the first episode in downtown Shanghai, and then traveled by train and truck to an ancient Buddhist monastery where they were greeted by host Jeff Probst and participated in a traditional welcome ceremony.

After the castaways were told they will be wearing nothing but the clothes on their backs for the next 39 days, they were taken to two separate islands on ZhelinLake (translation: the Land of 1,000 Lakes) in the JiangxiProvince, where they split into two tribes. The yellow tribe, Zhan Hu, meaning Fighting Tiger, consists of Frosti, Dave, Jaime, Erik, Peih-Gee, Sherea, Ashley and Chicken. The red tribe, Fei Long, meaning Flying Dragon, consists of Jean-Robert, Leslie, Amanda, Courtney, Denise, James, Todd and Aaron.

At Tribal Council, Chicken was seen as not fitting in, Ashley being a weak link for getting sick, and Peih-Gee as being bossy. Chicken – real name: Steve Morris, a 47-year-old chicken farmer from Marion, Virginia – was unable to convince the others to keep him in the tribe and was voted out 5-2-1. After Chicken left, Probst presented the tribe with a flint.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

September 21, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO 49ers (2-0 SU, 1-0-1 ATS) at PITTSBURGH STEELERS (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS)

Sunday, Sept. 23, 1 pm ET

TV: Fox

Favorite: Steelers -9

Pick: Steelers -9

The 49ers aren’t as good as their 2-0 record. All signs point to a rude awakening in Steeltown this Sunday. In two games, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers have outscored their opponents 60-10, for a net point gain of 50 points, the best in the NFL.

Both San Francisco victories have been razor-thin, including last week’s 17-16 win over the St. Louis Rams as a 3-point underdog. The Steelers defeated Buffalo 26-3 as a 10-point favorite in Week 2. RB Willie Parker rushed for 126 yards with a touchdown on 23 carries for Pittsburgh, while Roethlisberger completed 21-of-34 passes for 242 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the win. Pittsburgh is 6-1 ATS in its past seven games, and 4-1 ATS in its past five at home.

As if the San Francisco defense won’t have enough to worry about, they will be playing their first game without linebacker Manny Lawson, whose promising season came to an abrupt end this past week. Lawson, a starting outside linebacker in the 49ers’ 3-4 defensive scheme, tore his anterior cruciate ligament during Wednesday’s practice. The speedy 6-foot-5 linebacker plays the strong side, covering tight ends and rushing the passer. Lawson was second on the team with 14 tackles while the Niners got off to a 2-0 start. San Francisco‘s defense has been largely responsible for the club’s strong start, holding its opponents to 33 points in two games despite meager production from the Niners’ offense.

Jon Fitch vs Diego Sanchez

September 18, 2007

Jon Finch will face his toughest opponent yet, Diego Sanchez. This fight is scheduled for September 22, 2007 at the Honda Center.

Jon Finch is a little known fighter who’s been under the radar in the UFC. He’s more of a wresting style fighter than anything with a perfect 6-0 record in the UFC. He does very well on the ground and has submitted three fighters into submission. This will be his toughest test yet.

Diego Sanchez is grappling style fighter, fighting out of New Mexico. His last fight in UFC 69 in which he fought Josh Koscheck was a bit of a snoozer. The two of them stood there taking minor chances at each other all three rounds. The fans were booing as each fighter stocked each other. After it was all said and done it was deemed that Koscheck was the winner by unanimous decision. All previous fights before this one were all Sanchez. He’s very strong and explosive on the ground and has the power to knock you down then pound you out.

Diego Sanchez is the definite favorite in this match up. click here…to learn more.

Mauricio Rua vs Forrest Griffin

September 18, 2007

Word has it that Forrest Griffin specifically requested this fight against Mauricio Rua thats taking place on September 22, 2007.

Griffin wants to fight Rua because he knows Rua’s the best. Rua will be making his UFC debut this Saturday after making the transfer from Pride. Rua is an extremely aggressive fighter with an excellent background in Muay Thai and Jui-Jitsu. He’s beaten some of Prides finest like Quinton Jackson, Richardo Arona and Rogerio Minotoro Nogueira.

Griffin’s a fighter that’s well rounded with good grappling skills. His two biggest losses to date have been against guys that are tough and aggresive, guys like Tito Ortiz and Keith Jardine. His best fight that went the distance was against Stephan Bonner, in which both fighters went toe to toe the whole fight making for one of the best fights to date. He’s got the strength and conditioning to go the distance, but Rua brings to much to the table. Rua has knocked out some massive guys in Pride that don’t even come close to Griffin. Maricio Rua will walk away from this fight victorious.
