The red hot Vancouver Canucks will host the Pittsburgh Penguins, at G.M. Place, for the first time since 2003. Pittsburgh hasn’t played in Vancouver since December 9, 2003.

The Vancouver Canucks (16-10-2) have seven wins out of their last ten games. Their most recent win was over the Nashville Predators, 5-2, on the road. The Canucks are getting goals from multiple players which helps ease the pressure off their top players. Goalie Curtis Sanford gave Luongo a break for the night and managed a win, giving him a perfect 3-0 record. The Canucks offense is firing on all cylinders and their power play is ranked 12th best in the league. Their defense allows an average 2.3 GAG and their penalty kill is ranked 15th in the league. The keys to their sucsess is to stay out of the penalty box.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (14-12-2) have won seven of ten after their last win over the Calgary Flames, 3-2 (SO). They have one loss in their last four road game. Sid the Kid has 7pts in five games and he’s on a roll. The Pens offense is averaging 2.9 GAG and their power play is ranked 8th best in the league. They could score more goals if they started to shoot the puck on net more. Their defense is average and so is their penalty kill. Their top goalie Marc-Andre Fleury did not play against the Flames and he’s listed as day to day. Back up Dany Sabourin is 5-4-1 with a 2.34 GAA along with 1 SHO.

Bottom Line: It’s going to come down to who’s got the better goalie. Both teams are playing offensively and their scoring goals. Roberto Luongo is for sure to start for the Canucks and it’s not known is Fleury or Sabourin will start. Regardless the Canucks should take it!
